Formerly a Postdoctoral Research Associate for the Egyptian Coffins Project at the Fitzwilliam Museum, Melanie Pitkin is Senior Curator, Nicholson Collection at the University of Sydney Chau Chak Wing Museum.
She joined the Fitzwilliam’s Coffins Project in January 2018 to focus on the translations and descriptions of the 21st Dynasty yellow coffin set of Nespawershefyt and the 25th Dynasty coffin set of Pakepu, the development of the online resource and community outreach, especially the concept of the pop-up museum, and she remains a key part of the team as an affiliated researcher at the Fitzwilliam.
Melanie received her PhD from Macquarie University on the dating of Egyptian false doors and funerary stelae of the First Intermediate Period and previously worked for more than a decade as a museum curator in Australia.
